ista introduces the wireless solution for multifamily resident gas energy allocation and billing: G.A.S.TT®. Gas Allocation System for Timing™ monitors time and temperature with complete accuracy for hydronic baseboard systems and boiler/chiller HVAC systems.
Product Description
Hydronic baseboards and fan coil heating systems are monitored by measuring run time and temperature. The tamper detection mechanism indicates any third party tampering by maintenance staff or residents. It also detects abnormally high readings, 24-hour readings and cut wires.
G.A.S.TT uses the industry-standard Inovonics® wireless platform for energy allocation and automated data collection.
Product Features
- Provides hydronic baseboard and fan coil heating system monitoring
- Tampering detection circuitry provides over 99% monitoring up time, the highest in the industry
- Battery powered (uses Inovonics Transmitter Lithium Battery) — single battery has 5 to 7-year life expectancy
- Time tested and proven all-around system for monitoring heat in the residential
sector
G.A.S.TT Heat Cost Monitoring System
System run time and temperature are recorded to accurately determine heat delivered (as relative BTU) to each apartment. ista's G.A.S.TT is offered in conjunction with the industry leading OptiHeat™ and OptiCool™ billing service solutions.
ista's OptiHeat Billing Services Include:
- Monitored Consumption
- Domestic Hot Water
- Base Energy: recovers costs associated with energy losses due to boiler standby and heat distribution
- Common Area Costs
Why use OptiHeat?
- Monitoring heat consumption is a fair way to recover properties' gas expenses and allocate usage and costs if gas meters cannot be installed
- ista's industry-leading hardware provides the most accurate way to bill for heat use
- Residents pay for the exact amount of heat consumed
- Monitoring heat consumption encourages conservation — up to 30% less energy is used

Applications
Hydronic Baseboard
Hydronic baseboard heating systems use pipes to deliver hot water from a central boiler to individual units. Baseboard heaters are installed where the wall meets the floor. They draw air currents from the floor across a heating element to heat the air.
Fan Coil Heating System
Fan coil heating systems use pipes to deliver hot water from a central boiler to individual units. Air is blown over hot coils to generate heat.
Installation
The G.A.S.TT measures 24-volt AC fan coil zone valve run time plus water temperature at the hydronic baseboard or fan coil heating system. It converts run time to Time Temperature Units (TTU) via an internal microprocessor to provide a heat output reading as relative BTU. The meter readings indicate the number of degree-hours [time adjusted by temperature] that heat was delivered to each residence each month.
